Then I turned to social media, typing in "Adolph / Adolphus / Adolphe /Adolf” and hoping for the best. I found some fascinating articles about some short guy with a funny mustache, from WWII but I did not think it appropriate to reach out to such an individual.
Just when I was about to end my search I got a message in my inbox. “Hi my name is sort of Adolf” - This was interesting, ‘sort of’ - what does that mean?
In the last couple of months I have been reaching out to living Adolphs
trying to hear more about their experience of living with this name. One of the first people that answered my request revealed something that I had no idea about... there are women with the name Adolph... well the feminine form of it. Adolfine and I had a short chat and this is what I learnt from her.
Adolfina) I’m from Lithuania, Vilnius
Adolph) Who gave you your name and why did they give you this name? Is there a story behind your name?
Adolfina) It was my parents that gave me this name, but my dad joked about my mom and the doctors giving me this name :)
Adolph) What do you do professionally, what do you study?
Adolfina) I’m working in the film industry with small projects and this year I got into acting school.
Adolph) Do you know any Adolphs/ adolfinas?
Adolfina) Yes, i know one girl from another town named Adolfina but in our country it is a really rare name
Adolph) Do people tease you because of your name?
Adolfina) Yes, it was a bit hard when i was a kid, because people teased me and some mean kids called me Hitler:(

Adolfina) Yes, i like my name, it is a cool name.
Adolph) Do you want to change your name, if so why or why not?
