I have been in Belarus for nearly three months, everyone asks what I think of the country and how I feel about being here. I find that there are to artistic works that answer this question for me. Firstly the new book "heta Belarus dzietka" which paints the picture of two foreigners trying to understand the country. However more appropriate to this blog, is an old Belarusian theatrical play called Паўлінка.

Not too long ago I went to an outdoor war museum in Belarus; a war re-enactment was played out, and Tanks paraded the streets. The famous "World of Tanks" multiplayer online computer game was heavily advertised. The museum boasts a collection of old Russian tank's each with a small plaque explaining the history of the tank and where it was used. Now obviously there was a certain Adolf, who had a thing or two to say about tanks, but I found an Adolphs, who engineered tanks, amongst other technology of the modern world.
Enter Adolphe Kégresse. Most wedding parties include fancy dinners and after-parties at a nightclub; we went for something less conventional: Bowling. A variant of bowling apparently was played by Egyptians, and Romans, the more well known ten pin bowling style can be dated to the 1880s, and it seems to have originated in America. The older style of bowling includes rolling one white ball acting as a target, followed by black balls, the aim of the game is to get as close to possible to the white ball.
On the 17th of September 2015, I got married, what a spectacular and overwhelming feeling. I was wondering how to express the feeling, but only found an adequate expression through art. While searching for Adolph's of the world I came across a painting entitled "Wedding" by, Adolph Tidemand. I knew I wanted to know more this Adolph since his style is so beautiful!

AuthorMy name is Adolph, and you can imagine how many strange situations I have been in because of it. Often people are shocked, offended or confused when I introduce myself. Some show concern and suggest that I use my second name or use a nickname to avoid this awkwardness. This experience motivated me to start this Blog project to inform the world about all the other Adolphs, depreciated and forgotten who, nethertheless, changed this world to a better place. Archives
