During a short holiday the Czech Republic I had a quick lunch in Cheb on the way to Karlovy Vary. It was a few days before New Year so most shops were closed except for an antique shop which lined their walls with air guns. An interesting ‘welcome to Czech Republic message’. Like I am acustomed to do, my first order of business was to find out which of my ancestoral Adolph namlings walked these streets before me. Little did I know, I would uncover the tale of a renowned trumpet player whose music resonated far beyond the Czech borders.
If one were to carefully look at few of Adolphe Monticelli’s paintings, you may be forgiven for thinking you are looking at a van Gogh. That is because when van Gogh saw Adolphe’s paintings he said “I am sure I will continue this man’s work”. The famous painting of sun flowers, was very likely insnpired by a still life boquet by Adolphe Monticelli.

AuthorMy name is Adolph, and you can imagine how many strange situations I have been in because of it. Often people are shocked, offended or confused when I introduce myself. Some show concern and suggest that I use my second name or use a nickname to avoid this awkwardness.
