Adolph Frank was born on the 20th of January 1834, which happened to be a Friday. He died on the 30th of May 1916. Frank was born in a small town, Klötze in Saxony-Anhalt. His parents were Jewish and ran a general store. Adolph went to school in Strelitz, and then in Seesen. He then apprenticed as an apothecary which is basically a pharmacist, this sparked off his interest in chemistry which he went on to study, as well as engineering in Berlin. In 1861-1862 he studied in Göttingen, The University of Adolph's, where he received his doctorate in chemistry, based on his work about the production of sugar. Before completing his doctorate, he already took out a patent on cleaning sugar, for the process of production. His sound knowledge of chemistry later made him into a successful businessman.

Two years ago for Christmas my, soon to be wife, gave me a straight razor and a hone. I never quite got it super-sharp, but I really enjoyed shaving with it. Unfortunately, low-cost airlines are not very fond of carrying razors on board, my beautiful razor had to stay in Germany while I travel. I recently stumbled across a site about straight razors, with a short article about Mr. Adolf Kastor.
Mr Ernst Adolf Sjöstedt was born on the 9th of September 1852 in Hjo, Västergötland, Sweden. He went to the University of Stockholm where he studied at the mountain school and obtained a degree. He was not the only one in the family of high social standing his brother Yngve became a professor, and his other brother Sten became a Director, both stayed in Sweden. |
AuthorMy name is Adolph, and you can imagine how many strange situations I have been in because of it. Often people are shocked, offended or confused when I introduce myself. Some show concern and suggest that I use my second name or use a nickname to avoid this awkwardness. This experience motivated me to start this Blog project to inform the world about all the other Adolphs, depreciated and forgotten who, nethertheless, changed this world to a better place. Archives
