Nonetheless, after some comical confusion as to who is calling, and recognising that I was calling him we had a great little chat. Adolph was born in 1981 and his father gave him the name Adolph, essentially because he liked Hitler. When he was born his father choose the name of someone he considered to be a great leader and thus his child should not to be afraid to be a great leader. Adolph said when he began to recognize what his name meant he was happy because he knew that he will always be a leader.
He has a friend named Adolph and knows a few people named Adolph. He thinks it is more common in Burundi and mentioned there was a rebel named Adolphe Nshimirimana who was a military leader. Adolph was happy to learn there was a man with the same name and surname as himself.
I asked him how he feels about his name to which he could only respond that he likes his name very much. When I asked what he thinks about Hitler he responded in no uncertain terms that ”Hitler was a bad person”.
I was somewhat surprised that he said he has not been teased for his name saying that in Burundi it is a more common name and some people openly say they like the name. I think I need to go to this country where people actually like the name Adolph .
Adolph’s message to share with the other Adolphs is:
“To be called Adolph is a benediction it is a chance which is not given to many people. I will tell them to like the name and make things better than other people to change the world that to make the world they must be a leader everywhere they are. Be a leader by having the name Adolph.
