Adolf Seger was born on the 2nd of January 1945 in my favourite city Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. Adolf was a professional wrestler who competed in both the 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics. Throughout his career, he received the world champion title ten times. Adolf Seger was born to become a wrestler, from age five he was taught by his father, as were his five brothers, one of which Edmund competed in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. |
Having competed in two Olympics and had a successful wrestling career, he retired in 2010 at age 65. Although he isa known for his wrestling career for more than 40 years, his job was working for the Deutsche Post in Zahringen. Now in retirement he plays his part in local politics, often giving to charity and of course promoting sports. Even at age 70 he keeps his competition weight, and often exercises.
Adolf Seger is one of the Adolf's Germany are more proud of, as he was often the world and European champion wrestler. Zeger is in fact held as one of Germany's greatest wrestlers of all time. Not only was he a great wrestler but he also developed new fighting techniques, based on his ability to move quickly. A special type of wrestling grip was named after him as the Seger-grip.
Common among wrestlers, Adolf suffered from "cauliflower ear", as well as injuries all over his body, and often spent much time recovering at the Freiburg hospital. Although his injurious slowed down his progress, he still went on to become an international acclaimed sportsman. Seger is a very ambitious man that got him very far along his career, he however always played a fair game that got him a Fair Play Trophy.
